Seoul Medical Association Hall – Foreign Patient Clinic Volunteer

I serve as a volunteer assistant in the Orthopedic Clinic during free medical services for foreign residents. My work involves supporting the attending orthopedic physician in patient care, including preparing examination rooms, assisting with physical assessments, and facilitating communication between the physician and patients. I have observed and interacted with patients with diverse conditions such as ankle sprains, herniated intervertebral discs (HIVD), and degenerative knee osteoarthritis. Through direct interaction with patients, I gained valuable insight into the varied ways individuals express pain and discomfort, which deepened my understanding of the importance of precise symptom localization in diagnosis. Observing the physician’s diagnostic process allowed me to connect academic knowledge with real-world application, reinforcing my interest in orthopedic and rehabilitative care. This hands-on experience strengthened my desire to become a physical therapist who can accurately diagnose and treat patients, alleviate their pain, and help them return to daily life without limitations.
